🚓 Riverside Beat – Licensing Checks 🍻

While many of you were enjoying a packed night of football during the “Premier League title decider” 🔵👀  , officers from the Riverside beat were out and about carrying out licensing checks across our area.

Our visits covered a range of premises, including pubs, bars and off licences, to make sure they are operating responsibly and in line with their licence conditions. With venues especially busy, these checks are an important part of preventing disorder, keeping people safe, and ensuring everyone can enjoy a night out without concerns.

✅ A few things we look out for include:
•    Whether CCTV systems are in place and working effectively
•    If age verification policies are being followed to prevent underage alcohol sales
•    Staff awareness of the ‘Ask for Angela’ scheme, which provides discreet support to anyone who feels unsafe

We work closely with licensed premises to support them in creating safe, welcoming environments and to protect vulnerable people who may need help while visiting these locations.
